Notes from the session on lab report requirements for the pass grade:

The discussion inluded requirements on structure and format and some practical issues and deadlines:

First you agreed on the follwing general structure, these will be the headings in your report:

Front page:

Name+personal number, email, group number and members, date.

Does not count towards the total number of pages.

Headings:

Introduction and Theory: probably just a short description of the device under test

Experimental procedure: you will refer to the guidelines but also mention personal experiences in the lab

Data: presented in a suitable number of graphs or tables, but mainly focussing on the Data Analysis

Discussion and Conclusion: The general question to answer is if the measurement made any sense in view of the general theory for this type of  semiconduction device

Format:

Limit the number of pages to 3-5. including the figures preferrably inside the text, use headings for the different sections.

For graphs, the following items are mandatory: labels on all axes, units, captions and numbering, legends, shapes and linestyles are preferred over colors.

A suitable font size in the final layout is 10-12 in e.g. Times Roman

Aim the report at both students and teacher, but basically someone in engineering who is in the process of learning these topics.

The DEADLINES are November 25 for a first version, Dec 5 a second version to be discussed in seminar no 2.
