Polymers have truly transformed everyday life and are today involved in every aspect of our lives from health care and information technology to food, transportation and energy sector. The development continues at accelerating speed and polymers, synthetic and natural, are important elements in future innovations and sustainable society. This course provides the students with the basic knowledge in polymer science and engineering illustrated in modern context and with state-of-the art materials. The course is based on lectures, discussion seminars and a project. The students will together seek solutions to practical problems and the projects will focus on the trends and the latest innovations within polymer science such as the role of polymers within health care and tissue engineering, energy sector, biobased society, sustainable development and so on.
