Lecture #7: Brainstorming and creation of a Mental Map

Group

First of all, I would like to share my appreciation. The brainstorming activity was a great success and we as a group evolve further on the climate change mitigation discussion. I am very pleased to be part of the process with you all.

Next, I would like to share our accomplishments. The mental map based on our brainstorming shows the complexity of the problem and it can be used to guide us on our decisions during the design phase of a project. It helps us to understand the connections and perceive the problem in a more systemic fashion.

Another important outcome of our discussion was the understanding about how important is to define sustainability in our projects.  Its definition cannot be taken for granted, it has to be explained and defined.

An expected outcome was the approach used by Sören Vahland and Lydia Petschelt. Their contribution added a tool that can help analyzing the Mental Map in more detailed way.

Their perspective pushed boundaries of the exercise and introduced a new discussion on using Transition Curves Concept to the analysis.

Note: All pictures of the process are available in Bilda under Documents within the lecture's folder.
