ABSTRACT: We consider cylindric Schur functions, which are defined via semi-standard tableaux drawn on a cylinder.
Several results which hold for the classical Schur functions are shown to hold in the cylindrical case.
For example, we introduce cylindric Gelfand-Tsetlin polytopes, and prove that these
satisfy the saturation property and Ehrhart period collapse.
We shall also consider some interesting properties of ribbon tilings of cylindrical diagrams.
