New Collaboration between German and Swedish research partners to test Industrie 4.0 technologies

On 26th Apr 2017, a workshop regarding “Swedish-German Testbed for Smart Production” was held at the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT in Aachen. The overall objective of the workshop was to define the next steps for the cooperation between the Swedish and German companies and research institutions.

“Sweden, in particular, has an outstanding innovative culture,” says Jannik Henser, the managing director of PMH. “German research institutions and industrial companies can not only test their technological expertise on the Swedish market more quickly, but also benefit from the enormous creativity of the Swedish partners and their open-mindedness to new digital solutions for production systems, products and business models.”

The majority of the participants is already actively involved in our R&D cluster, including , Swerea IVF , Swerea KIMAB , Chalmers University of Technology , Fraunhofer IWU , Fraunhofer IPT , the PMH Application Lab , Scania , Sandvik Coromant , Volvo , and Ovako . The other participants include Teknikföretagen, Ericsson AB, SAP SE, Labs Network Industrie 4.0 e.V, ABB AG, and Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt, Braunsch weig.

At the workshop the following working groups were initiated:

  • Model based analytics
  • Digital Twins
  • Digital Infrastructure (Production Cloud & 5G)

Serving as a platform for further joint projects, PMH plans more meetings in the form of workshops, seminars and conferences for the future. Interested companies are free to join in at any time – especially small and medium-sized enterprises are called upon to participate actively in the events and to share their ideas with the research partners, thereby contributing to a speedy market maturity.
