Abstract:

I will survey recent results giving quantitative versions of theorems in economics regarding social choice (voting) functions. The focus of the talk will be a quantitative proof of Arrow's Impossibility Theorem. The proof is based on new combinatorial arguments coupled with use of an inverse hyper-contractive estimate by Borell and non-linear invariance principles.
