Future power grids are expected to be dominated by power-electronics-based converters, making multi-vendor interoperability a key technical and operational challenge. Reliable interoperability requires coordinated development of converter technologies, standards, grid codes, and validation methods. The current state of multi-vendor interoperability in HVDC grids has been reviewed, with particular focus on the InterOPERA research project. An interoperability methodology has been established within the project, defining tests for individual components, including converters and switching stations, to verify their compatibility within an HVDC grid. Building on this methodology, a test-case envelope is being developed to reduce the number of tests required for interoperability assessment by selecting critical test-variable combinations and scenarios. As a first step, the dynamic performance tests proposed in InterOPERA have been implemented on a converter connected to an equivalent HVDC grid model. A sensitivity analysis has also been conducted to assess the influence of key system parameters on the test outcomes, providing an initial basis for defining the test-case envelope.
