This week, AFIEGO is visiting Stockholm to receive the highly prestigious Right Livelihood Award 2022, also known as the Nobel Peace Prize for Civil Society . Since 1980, the Right Livelihood Award each year recognises organisations and people working with peace, justice and sustainability. This year, the price goes to AFIEGO, for “their tireless efforts to protect the rights of local communities from environmentally damaging projects linked to the exploitation of oil and gas”.

The Africa Institute for Energy Governance (AFIEGO) from Uganda visiting the Climate Action Centre. AFIEGO works with public policy research and advocacy to influence energy policies to benefit the poor and vulnerable in Uganda, including running three programmes: Electricity Democracy Programme, Extractives Governance Programme, and Renewable Energy Effieciency Programme.

KTH Climate Action Centre are honoured to host AFIEGO and welcome them to meet with KTH students and offer a shorter presentation of their work and mission, as well as answering questions.
