Space missions

Our group has contribute to instruments on space missions to Earth's ionosphere, magnetosphere, other planets and solar wind.

Currently active missions for which we have built electric field instruments:

  • NASA MMS, four spacecraft mission to magnetic reconnection in near Earth space
  • ESA Cluster, four spaceceraft mission to explore 3D dynamics of the near Earth space at multiple scales
  • ESA/JAXA Bepi Colombo, a mission to explore the Mercury interaction with solar wind.

We have also calibrated and done the thermal modelling for the RPW instrument on the ESA JUICE mission to Jupiter which was launched in April 2023.
