The Political Situation in the U.S. Affects the ERIC Education Database – New Index Added

Published Nov 14, 2025

ERIC (Education Resources Information Center), operated by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) in the U.S., is a central database for education-related research and literature.

The current political situation in the U.S. affects both the content and updating of ERIC. As of spring 2025, some of the material in the database is no longer available in the same way as before.

To ensure continued access to as much of ERIC’s content as possible, ProQuest has launched a new database: ProQuest Education Research Index. It covers approximately 75% of the journal titles that were previously included in ERIC, including 75% of the titles that were recently removed. Coverage will be gradually expanded.

For the most comprehensive search in the field of education, it is recommended to search both ERIC and the ProQuest Education Research Index. Searches can be conducted in the databases separately or simultaneously.
