This seminar will provide examples of how bio-based polymers are tailored and functionalized into materials for use as adsorbents, filters, and membranes able to selectively capture, control, and allow for monitoring of pollutants in water.

The presentation will showcase several systems developed within the Mistra TerraClean research programme, funded by Mistra (The Swedish foundation for strategic environmental research) and engaging a large consortium of partners from academia, institutes, industries ranging from start-up to multinational, trade organizations, and authorities. The research program addresses global sustainability challenges, uses naturally occurring and commercially important raw materials to develop smart materials for the removal of chemical wastes and pollutants from ambient water and air in the environment and industrial effluents.
