The Climate Framework

Higher education institutions (HEIs) have a central role in efforts to combat climate change. We have an important task to contribute through our teaching and research, but we also need to contribute by reducing the impact of our own operations.

KTH's Climate Work

The ambition is for KTH to contribute to climate transition in line with society's national and international commitments such as the Paris Agreement, Agenda 2030, and Sweden's energy and climate goals. The development of climate goals and measures for KTH aims to drive efforts to reduce its own climate impact and ensure that KTH's core activities contribute to society achieving its set goals.

Our Responsibility

The climate goals and measures concern KTH's employees and students, but KTH's property owners, collaboration partners, financiers, and other external partners may also be affected.

Implementation of the Climate Framework

KTH has decided on overall objectives and measures to implement the undertakings in the Climate Framework and to work in line with the associated guide.

The central role of Higher education institutions (HEIs) in combating climate change

Higher education institutions have a central role in efforts to combat climate change. We have an important
task to contribute through our teaching and research, but we also need to reduce the impact of our own operations.

37 Swedish universities and colleges have created a combined climate framework to serve as the basis for individual climate strategies. This Climate Framework has been produced on the initiative of Higher
Education Institutions (HEIs) with the ambition of clearly contributing to climate change adaptation in line with society’s national and international commitments. By 2030, all the HEI signatories of this Climate Framework will have implemented measures in order to be in line with the Paris Agreement's 1.5°C target.
