Sustainability Reporting
Each year KTH compiles a Sustainability report about the University's work with to improve our economic, environmental and social impacts caused by everyday operations. The Sustainability Report details KTH's performance towards achieving our overall sustainability objectives. KTH also compiles an annual report against each of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
KTH and UN Sustainable Development Goals Report
Agenda 2030 and the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals is an international call to action on the most pressing challenges facing the world and humanity. KTH has an important part in achieving these goals.
Our impact through education, research, collaboration and campus operations towards the UN’s SDGs is ranked among the top 100 in the world in the Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings in 2022.

KTH's Sustainability Reports
KTH Sustainability Report summarizes the progress towards fulfilling KTH's Sustainability Objectives during the year.
In spring 2026, on behalf of the University Board, KTH produced the report Sustainable Societal Development at KTH – covering education, research, innovation, and the climate impact of KTH’s own operations.The report provides an in-depth overview of KTH’s current sustainability work and identifies areas that require further development. It also serves as a basis for strategic follow-up and future prioritization. The report (pdf 936 kB) is only available in Swedish.

KTH’s Carbon Footprint 2019, 2022 and 2025
KTH’s Climate Report for 2025 shows how the university’s climate impact has developed since 2019, in accordance with the international standard Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol). The report presents results for 2025 and includes comparisons with 2019 and 2022.
The calculations show that KTH’s total climate impact decreased by 24% between 2019 and 2025. This reduction is primarily due to lower emissions from energy use, while Scope 3 emissions continue to account for the largest share of KTH’s carbon footprint. Business travel remains the largest source of emissions within the main reporting boundary.
At the same time, the report indicates that purchased goods and services are likely one of KTH’s largest sources of emissions. As the current calculations are largely based on spend data, these emissions are reported separately within an expanded reporting boundary. The analysis highlights laboratory operations, chemicals, and research-related procurement as particularly significant emission sources.
The report also includes an analysis of KTH’s climate targets and priority areas for further development. To achieve the target of a 60% reduction in emissions by 2030, particular emphasis is placed on reducing emissions from business travel and improving the quality of data and methodologies used to assess emissions from purchased goods and services.
