Software applications

A number of IT tools are used for the teaching in environment and sustainable development at KTH, a few examples are listed below.

Eco Audit Tool, Granta Design

Environmental objectives are increasingly important in engineering and design. You may wish to limit the carbon footprint of your product, reduce its energy usage, cut wastes and emissions, or specify the manner of its disposal. To do this, you need rapid estimates of the CO2 emissions and energy uses for each life-phase.

The Eco Audit™ Tool is an add-on tool to Granta Selector that helps you to address such objectives. It draws on Granta's environmental data to quantify the eco impact of key life-phases of a material, helping to identify the most significant environmental costs and thus focus attention on the areas which can lead to the biggest improvements.

The software is used, for example, in the teaching of eco-design. If you have any questions, contact Anna Hedlund Åström (hedlund@md.kth.se) , Department of Machine Design, KTH.

CES EduPack, Granta Design

CES EduPack is a unique set of teaching resources that support Materials Education across Engineering, Design, Science and Sustainable Development. Understanding materials, the way that they are processed, and their impact on the engineering, economic, and environmental behaviour of products is essential.

The software is used, amongst other things, in the teaching of materials science. If you have any questions, contact Anders Eliasson (anderse@kth.se) , Department of Materials Science, KTH.
