Overall learning objectives

For the master's degree in engineering, the bachelor's degree in engineering and architectural courses, there are overall learning objectives set by the Government in the Higher Education Ordinance. Some of these address environment and sustainable development.

Master of Science in Engineering

For the Master of Science in Engineering, the student shall

  • demonstrate the ability to develop and design products, processes and systems with regard to people's conditions and needs and society's objectives for economically, socially and ecologically sustainable development.
  • demonstrate insight into the possibilities and limitations of technology, its role in society and human responsibility for how it is used, including social and economic aspects, as well as environmental and work environment aspects.

Bachelor of Science in Engineering

For the Bachelor of Science in Engineering, the student shall

  • demonstrate the ability to design and manage products, processes and systems with regard to people's conditions and needs and society's objectives for economically, socially and ecologically sustainable development.
  • demonstrate insight into the possibilities and limitations of technology, its role in society and human responsibility for its use, including social and economic aspects, as well as environmental and work environment aspects.

Master of Architecture

For the Master of Architecture the student shall

  • demonstrate the ability to holistically plan, model, conserve and renew housing environments and buildings in complex contexts, taking into account different requirements, in particular society's objectives for sustainable development.
  • demonstrate the ability to holistically integrate relevant scientific, societal, aesthetic and ethical aspects into their assessments and considerations while taking into account the different needs and functional abilities of society and all people, as well as the interaction between people and the physical living environment, including the work environment.

Degree of Master of Arts/Science in Education

For the Degree of Master of Arts/Science in Upper Secondary Education, the student shall

  • demonstrate the ability to make assessments in the educational work based on relevant scientific, societal and ethical aspects with particular regard to human rights, in particular the rights of the child under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, including sustainable development
