Multi-Scale Modeling and Characterization of Infrastructure Materials

The micro- and nano-modification of infrastructure materials and the associated multi-scale characterization and simulation has the potential to open up whole new uses and classes of materials, with wide-ranging implications for society. The use of multi-scale characterization and simulation brings the ability to target changes at the very small scale that predictably effect the bulk behavior of the material and thus allowing for the optimization of material behavior and performance. This Symposium brings together key researchers from around the world for presenting their findings in a focused symposium environment. After the conference, there will be a Rheobit workshop given by Dr. David Anderson and Dr. Geoff Rowe from 12-14 June 2013 at KTH. The workshop is intended for engineers and scientists experienced with asphalt binders but seeking fundamental knowledge that is not available elsewhere. The workshop will be about the asphalt binder rheology, measurement priciples and analytical concepts. Find out all about the conference topics, the paper submission dealines, the people behind the scenes and our partners! We aim at organizing a focussed event with high quality research and bringing people together that work on various aspects of multi-scale modeling and characterization of infrastructure materials. This conference is organized under the auspices of the RILEM technical commitee 231-NBM: Nano-Technology Based Bituminous Materials as well as the TRB AFK-20 committee: Characteristics of Asphalt Materials.
