The Odqvist Laboratory 1st Annual User Meeting

The Odqvist Laboratory is available for national and international users and the annual User Meeting is a forum for communication and interaction between present and future Users. Invited international speakers from the different disciplines if engineering mechanics will present their view of the use and potential of experiments in the area. In addition, on-going research within the laboratory will be presented in an extensive poster session.

The Odqvist Laboratory for Experimental Mechanics at KTH, which was inaugurated 2013, is an initiative to foster a world-leading infrastructure for advanced studies of Mechanics phenomena in solids and fluids. It includes the Fluid Physics Laboratory, the Marcus Wallenberg Laboratory (MWL) for Sound and Vibration Research, the Solid Mechanics Laboratory, as well as the Lightweight Structures Laboratory, all within the School of Engineering Sciences. The Odqvist Laboratory is located centrally on the KTH-campus (Teknikringen 8) and houses several large and in some cases world-class infrastructure facilities, e.g. the MTL wind tunnel, the acoustic laboratory of MWL, the CAPPI water laboratory and the solid and lightweight structures laboratories. In addition, more specialized laboratory facilities are available such as the shock-wave laboratory, the CCGEx laboratory for gas exchange studies and the laboratory for vascular mechanics (VascuMECH). Overall the laboratory is well equipped with state-of-the-art measurement equipment for fluid, acoustic and solid mechanics. The research teams within the Odqvist Laboratory consist of a diverse and highly qualified group of senior and junior researchers, all with strong publication records within their respective fields. Furthermore, these teams have solid records of supervising research students and post-doctoral fellows, as well as attracting external resources, collaborating with. Internationally there are few (if any) laboratories with the breadth that the Odqvist Laboratory represents; however, there are of course excellent more specialized laboratories at other universities.
