Conferment ceremony for PhD:s at KTH
The conferment of new doctors at KTH takes place at at Stockholm City Hall (Stadshuset), on Friday 21 November 2025. Invitations will be sent out in late September.
Once a year, the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) invites new doktors to celebrate their success with friends, family and supervisors. The conferment ceremony is the oldest academic ceremony and has existed for many centuries in Europe. KTH has been honouring its new doctors with a conferment ceremony since 1923.
The ceremony is held in the beautiful City Hall with a ceremony in the Blue Hall and a banquet in the Golden Hall. During the ceremony, a promoter appointed by the faculty hands out diplomas to all doctors present, the KTH president gives a speech and Ragnar Holm's scholarship is awarded. Music is preformed by KTH Academic Orchestra.
