IEA Users TCP emPOWERing all: Just and Inclusive Energy Transitions
This project addresses practical, methodological and theoretical aspects of just energy transitions, providing support for institutions and policymakers as well as communities.
The energy sector is one of the least diverse in the global economy, where user framings are predominantly male coded and technocentric, and large-scale innovations and technological rather than social solutions tend to dominate. However, organisations such as the International Energy Agency (IEA), the World Economic Forum as well as researchers are increasingly looking to people-centered clean energy transitions where inclusivity and fairness is seen as key to successful implementation of energy and climate policies. Building on the findings in phase 1 of the IEA emPOWERing all Task, Phase 2 sets out to bridge the gap between research and practice. The Swedish National Experts will contribute with specific competence regarding Indigenous peoples, institutional capacities and norm-critical analysis and design. The group will provide practical, methodological and theoretical support for institutions and policymakers with an intersectional focus to contribute to just energy transition.
