China: Peking University

Peking University is one of the oldest comprehensive universities in China located in Beijing. Its ranking in China varies between 1st and 2nd, and is among top 50 in the world. Peking University has become a center for teaching and research and a university of a new type, embracing diverse branches of learning such as basic and applied sciences, social sciences and the humanities, and sciences of medicine, management, and education.

University in brief

Language of instruction: Mainly Chinese at undergraduate and master level. Some English courses are available.
Academic calendar: September-January, February-June
Credit system: 1 Chinese study credit is equivalent to 2,0 ECTS at Bachelor's and Master's level of study.

Note: There is opportunity to receive local scholarship. Final year students are not recommended. Students must purchase designated medical insurance plan in China for a cost of 300 Yuan RMB per semester. Hard copy of application documents should be sent to PKU. Do NOT accept student with Chinese citizenship as well as Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwanese citizenship.

Exchange opportunities

Number of spots: 2 semester spots per year
Grade requirements: Minimum 4.0 grade point average. For studying Chinese: no language level required. For others: Chinese HSK 6 or equivalent level. English is not required at the application process. Certain courses may require students to submit language proof or take a test.
