Entry requirements for ICT Innovation KTH
To be eligible for the master's programme in ICT Innovation, you must meet the listed admission requirements and submit the documents required in your application. We will assess your application according to the selection criteria set for the programme. The same process applies to students with a bachelor's degree from a Swedish university.
Specific requirements for ICT Innovation
A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, corresponding to 180 ECTS credits in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Information Technology, including courses corresponding to:
- at least 60 ECTS credits in computer science, basic digital and analogue electronics, basic control theory, computer systems/computer architecture and programming.
- at least 30 ECTS credits in mathematics, including analysis (calculus), linear algebra and mathematical statistics.
Within the programme there may be courses with additional entry requirements. The requirements are stated under the heading "Specific prerequisites" in the syllabus.

Selection criteria
The selection process for non-mobility specialisations is based on the following criteria: study results (grades, relevant subjects), motivation for studies (motivation letter, program priority, CV, references, innovation proposal) and prior education. Prior education is evaluated based on the quality and suitability of the subjects that are relevant for the programme applied for. Prior education is evaluated based on the Swedish Higher Education Authority's standards for Swedish higher education institutions. For international higher education institutions, university rankings are used. The merit rating is carried out on a scale of 1-75. The selection process is administered by KTH.
The selection process for mobility specialisations is managed by EIT Digital.
Acceptance rate
- The acceptance rate for the Autonomous Systems track in the master's programme in ICT Innovation for 2024 was 14 %. We admitted 6 students out of the 43 applicants that met the admission requirements.
- The acceptance rate for the Data Science track in the master's programme in ICT Innovation for 2024 was 7 %. We admitted 10 students out of the 135 applicants that met the admission requirements.
- The acceptance rate for the Embedded Systems track in the master's programme in ICT Innovation for 2024 was 13 %. We admitted 5 students out of the 38 applicants that met the admission requirements.
- The acceptance rate for the Human Computer Interaction and Design track in the master's programme in ICT Innovation for 2024 was 5 %. We admitted 3 students out of the 55 applicants that met the admission requirements.
- The acceptance rate for the Cloud and Network Infrastructures track in the master's programme in ICT Innovation for 2024 was 10 %. We admitted 7 students out of the 67 applicants that met the admission requirements.
- The acceptance rate for the Visual Computing and Communication track in the master's programme in ICT Innovation for 2024 was 22 %. We admitted 6 students out of the 27 applicants that met the admission requirements.
To increase your chances of getting admitted to KTH, we advise you to select more than one programme when applying. You can apply for up to four programmes and rank them in your order of preference.
