Kevin

Kevin is studying the Information and Communication Technology bachelor's programme. He spent the early part of his childhood in India before moving to the UK. Currently, he's been living in Sweden for over two years. In his free time, he usually likes going for long walks in the forests, of which there are plenty here, learning new things or just poring over a good old novel.

Why did you choose this bachelor’s programme at KTH?

I've wanted to study abroad for as long as I can remember. When I finished secondary school, my family planned to move to Sweden, so I naturally started looking into different programmes and universities here. I knew I wanted to study something related to Computer Science, and once I learned about KTH and its ICT programme, I realised that it fit me well. KTH has an excellent reputation and is known widely in the industry. Moreover, the programme is entirely in English, which suits me perfectly!

What are the best aspects of your programme?

This programme gives you a solid foundation in computing, electronics, and mathematics, which is excellent because it opens a wide range of options for your career and further studies. The classes are small compared to other universities, and the teaching is fantastic, with lots of labs and opportunities to use your knowledge outside your studies, such as Mentorspace. Plus, there is excellent student life here, which is hard to beat.

What are some of your favourite courses so far?

My favourite course so far has been the 'Project in ICT' course, in which we use all the knowledge from the first two years to create an innovative product of our choosing. We had the chance to work with external partners to develop a front-end application, and it was amazing to witness how everything came together. We got used to working in a team, which was excellent exposure to how it's done in the industry.

What do you want to do after graduating?

I'm planning to enter the workforce after graduating, and my dream would be to work with the latest technology in a company that drives innovation and sustainability. I have also thought about doing a master's programme sometime in the future.

What would you like to say to students thinking of choosing KTH for bachelor’s studies?

Go for it! KTH is excellent when it comes to education and student life. You'll get the chance to make friends with people from across the world and share a fantastic time here. There are tons of activities and opportunities for you to take hold of, and Stockholm is one of the world's most beautiful cities to live in, with plenty to see and do.
