Alexandra is from Greece. In her free time, she enjoys participating in events that her school organises, meeting her friends, cooking food, and baking. She likes travelling and exploring new cities too.
What made you choose KTH, Stockholm/Sweden, your programme?
I always wanted to study in Sweden because my family is of Swedish origin and both of my parents have studied in Sweden. I often visited Stockholm as a child, and I thought it was a beautiful city to live in. I was always interested in maths and programming, and my dream was to become an engineer. I found this bachelor’s programme and it was perfect because its curriculum is interesting and broad, which gives me the flexibility to choose among many master’s programmes in the future. A very important factor was that the teaching language is English. And who wouldn’t want to study at KTH? It is a highly acclaimed school, with a good reputation in teaching, research, and academic traditions!
What do you like most about your programme?
Most of all, I like the way my courses are structured (lectures, exercises, labs, and seminars) and that they are focused on real-life situations. Whenever I do a programming assignment or project, I feel that I learn so much new information and that I develop my skills, both technical and soft. Additionally, I like the small size of the classes, enabling more direct and personal contact with the teachers and the fellow students.
What do you like most about KTH?
I really like that KTH is a friendly place to study at. The facilities are modern and you can spend a lot of time there without becoming bored. Moreover, there are counsellors to refer to whenever advice is needed. In general, I enjoy the high-quality education that KTH offers.
What are your impressions of Stockholm and Sweden?
I love Sweden and I really enjoy my time in Stockholm. People in Sweden are very welcoming and friendly, and the natural environment is really beautiful. Furthermore, in Stockholm there are so many activities to keep people entertained.
What is your best memory from your time at KTH so far?
My best memory is the reception that I participated in as a new student. I had just come to Sweden and did not know what to expect. The reception was really fun and helped me adapt very quickly at KTH.
What would you like to say to the students thinking of choosing KTH for bachelor’s studies?
I would tell them not to be afraid to come and study in Sweden. It is a great opportunity to study at KTH, and they will gain a lot of knowledge and experiences. Just try to be an active and involved student.
Are you taking part in any student activities?
I am an active member of the local chapter of Information and Nanotechnology. Specifically, I am a marskalk and a mästeri of my chapter, where we organise pubs, dinners, and other social activities. Also, I have been a fadder (buddy) in my school’s reception. And if I have time I try to be involved with some THS organisations. I recommend participating in student activities if time allows it.
Do you have a dream job after graduating from KTH?
It sounds ideal to work in a well-known IT company, but any job where I could inspire people and feel productive would be perfect for me.
