Biotechnology at KTH

KTH offers three master's programmes within biotechnology, exploring three different sides of this fascinating area.

Industrial and Environmental Biotechnology

The programme provides in-depth knowledge and training in advanced techniques in different areas of chemistry for careers in industry or academia. Emphasis is placed on the design, synthesis, characterization and applications of molecules and materials. The programme also relates to sustainability, emphasising energy and the environment, safety, and innovation.

Medical Biotechnology

The programme provides a solid foundation for the development of sustainable biotechnological solutions and their use in health care. Students acquire knowledge about state-of-the-art techniques, experience in operating technological platforms and analyzing big data in the context of human health. Graduates have the competence necessary to research and develop diagnostics, disease prevention tools and therapies.

Molecular Biotechnology and Bioinformatics

The programme trains students to analyse complex biological data from genomics, proteomics, and imaging, tackling global challenges in medicine, food production, and sustainability. Combining biotechnology and bioinformatics, graduates are equipped to lead the fast-evolving data-driven life science sector.
