With this master's programme, I was able to widen my education in areas that other medical engineering programmes traditionally do not cover

Why did you choose this master's programme at KTH?

I chose this master's programme as I knew it would allow me to continue my studies in the medical field while widening my education in areas that medical engineering programs traditionally do not cover.

What are the best aspects of your programme?

The best aspect would be the encouragement to gain further experience within the I&E field by studying abroad, as the programme structure allows students to arrange things according to their preferences. Due to the pandemic, I could not travel, but the programme's flexibility allowed me to tailor the courses to fit my needs.

What are some of your favourite courses so far?

So far, my favourite courses have been Applied Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (CM2011) and Project Management: Leadership and Control (ME2016). Actually, I got my thesis project because of CM2011, since it put me in contact with my supervisor and later allowed me to show that I had the necessary skills to do the project.

How do studies at KTH differ from your previous studies?

The pace at which we study is significantly different from other universities I have attended. At KTH, there is a great sense of camaraderie. Students are very inviting and willing to work together on projects and other tasks.

How is student life in Stockholm?

Student life in Stockholm is wonderful! There are many things to do and many places to explore. I know that student life at KTH is rich, but venturing outside KTH will allow you to experience the true spirit of Stockholm student life!

What do you want to do after graduating?

I want to finally take a summer break and visit my family in Bangladesh since I have not been able to see them for over five years now. Following that, I will begin my career as a management consultant working specifically within the public sector.

What would you like to say to students thinking of choosing KTH for master’s studies?

Attending KTH has opened doors and allowed me to meet many companies I would not have encountered otherwise. Studying at KTH definitely gives you an advantage in the job market. If you are unsure of what you want to do, having the safety of knowing that you are graduating from a reputable university is incredibly nice.

What would you say to a student applying for your programme?

Please make sure you go on the exchange; it is an excellent opportunity to gain further knowledge within the field and will work wonders for your career. Also, plan what you want to do for your thesis or what you will do once you've graduated. Use the programme's flexibility to your advantage and choose the courses that will help you. And last but not least, have fun!
