Melt processability of modified cellulose

Close-up of partially derivatised cellulose fibre.

As the imperative to transition from fossil fuel-based resources to renewable resources grows, modified cellulose has been identified as a potential alternative to existing commercial thermoplastic polymers. The project investigates partially derivatised cellulose fibres, exhibiting thermoplastic properties, for melt processing applications, such as extrusion and injection moulding.
