Preparation of proton conducting membranes based cellulose nanofibrils
In this research we are working on fundamentals of chemical and physical modification of wood fibres and cellulose nanomaterials and how to prepare macroscopic materials such as membranes, aerogels and filaments containing the added functionality and to show applicability in new areas.
One main focus is the preparation of proton conducting membranes based cellulose nanofibrils. The project is a collaboration between KTH, RISE and LiU and involves the chemical modification of CNFs to induce high proton conductivity while also adding mechanical strength and maintaining the good thermal and chemical resistance offered by native cellulose.
