Our research is focused on some major themes: manufacturing of pharmaceuticals, functional surfaces, environmental technology and energy conversions.
Chemical engineering combines fundamental chemical knowledge with engineering tools in order to bring new products and processes into the market. The work is combining experimental activities with advanced modeling.
The approach is very useful in the analysis of complex processes and systems, and can therefore be used to study many different types of systems, man made as well as natural. Undergraduate and research students trained at the department can therefore be found in many different branches, quite often far outside the classical fields for chemical engineering and technology.
