Postdoc in Microphysiological Systems for Tumor Biology
KTH Royal Institute of Technology, School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health
Job description
We are looking for a Postdoctoral fellow with the task of validating and developing new systems to emulate cancer microenvironments. The fellow will work on multidisciplinary projects collaborating with research groups across KTH, Karolinska Institutet, SciLifeLab, and Karolinska Hospital. The host environment will be the Division of Nanobiotechnology, SciLifeLab, KTH with the group of Professor Anna Herland.
The project aim is to simulate the tumor microenvironment at two levels of complexity:
- Tumor-stroma interactions to uncover self-reinforcing ligand secretion patterns, which could become the target of novel therapies. This approach will be strongly supported by in silico digital-twin-like models of these interactions.
- Vascularization of tumor models to enable improved studies of immunotherapies and combinatorial therapies. This approach will be supported with multimodal in vitro and in vivo modeling as well as clinical material.
The work includes designing and developing new models and validating existing ones.
Your specific duties will include:
- Design of microphysiological systems and organ-on-chips
- Fabrication and validation of microphysiological systems and organ-on-chiInteractions
- Collaborations with computational scientists and cancer biologists
- Coordination of activities between project partners
- Supervision of research engineer/master's student in the projects
