This presentation covers our ongoing work on mitral valve modeling to support surgical repair. First, I’ll present an automated pipeline to extract valve geometry from medical images, including the chordal architecture. The method combines sub-mesh topology, RANSAC-like fitting, and refinement using mechanical, anatomical, and image-based criteria. Then, I’ll introduce a fluid-structure interaction model based on the immersed boundary method to simulate valve closure. This approach handles nonlinear contact dynamics and avoids the orifice holes often seen in existing simulations.
