Forest music at Tekniska

When the Baltic Sea Festival comes to Tekniska, the forest takes center stage. Join us for a musical

Forest music at Tekniska

Time: Sun 2026-08-23 16.00

Location: Museivägen 7, 115 27 Stockholm

Export to calendar

Location: Tekniska Museet

Time: Drop-in 10.00-16.00

The forest sings, whispers, clicks and breathes. In this drop-in program, both children and adults get to listen more closely to what otherwise easily disappears into the background – clicking sticks, rustling leaves, scraping gravel and other sounds that can become music.

Come and see our self-made instruments and try for yourself how everyday materials can create tone and rhythm. We show you how you can build your own instruments from things you find around you and together we investigate how sound changes depending on materials, movement and the way we listen.

Together we will create a simple piece of music with the instruments and perform it for anyone who wants to listen.

The musicians behind the music

Eli Ulfhammer is a woodwind musician with a passion for creating musical instruments from things that are around us in our everyday lives. Branches from the forest and scrap wood from construction sites are given new life in the instruments they make, with the aim of highlighting the sounds that are already around us – but that we may not always hear.

Benjamin Mjönes is a percussionist and music producer who lets nature become his music studio. Tree trunks, sticks and roots become beats and rhythms that he shares via film clips on social media, with the message that music is everywhere around us.
