Creative writing workshop on climate futures

The KTH Students for Sustainability and researchers from the EHL & Div. of History of Science, Technology, and Environment are co-hosting a creative writing workshop on climate futures! This workshop is to encourage and inspire how we can together creatively imagine what the future of our cities may look like. As imaginaries can be useful in articulating what we hope and fear for in the future, we welcome both dystopian and utopian climate imaginaries.

The workshop will consist of collective reflection and sharing, creative writing exercises and presentations on climate fiction, radical imaginaries, and the use of creative tools in protests.

Practicalities

We will meet on the 17^th of April 17:15-19.30 at the Climate Action Centre.

Prior to the workshop, we want participants to share a preliminary idea in the form of a short text, an image, an Instagram post, a video, a short story, or a cartoon, on how you imagine your city in 20, 50, 100 or 200 years, reflecting on your hopes and/or fears for the future of your city? "Your” city can be where you grew up, where you live now or a place you love very deeply. You will get instructions on how to send your idea after you register.

After the workshop participants can then develop their initial idea, or any new idea into a creative piece. We will meet again on the 23^rd of May for lunch (12:15-13.00) to share and discuss the process and any questions.

Participants' final contributions will be added to the OCC! Atlas of the other worlds website , where we have gathered creative entries on climate futures from students across the globe.
