PMH Application Lab 2020 Recap

Published Feb 18, 2021

The year 2020 has been a very special year filled with both obstacles due to the Covid-19 pandemic but also filled with activities. At PMH Application we quickly developed digital routines which we feel have been essential for this year’s activity increase. Through steady incremental steps, PMH Application Lab has had an increase in the number of projects compared to last year.

We are very excited that the activities at PMH Application are increasing, as well as the PMH R&D Cluster that continues growing with new companies reaching out to participate in our projects. During 2020, the R&D Cluster has had 19 active projects who in different ways examined technologies to strengthen the Swedish industry in powertrain manufacturing. This would not have been possible without our research and industrial partners.

PMH Application Lab wants to thank all partners for their trust and their engagement in research in this exciting field. In 2020, three additional industrial partners have joined the PMH R&D Cluster.

LEAX Group

LEAX Group  is a fast growing, privately owned, business group with its origin in Köping, Sweden. Leax produces advanced components and subsystems for the Commercial Vehicles, Mining & Construction, Agriculture, General industry and Automotive industry and maintains production facilities in Sweden, Latvia, Germany, Hungary, Brazil and China.

Ericsson

Ericsson  is one of the world's leading information and communication technology companies. The company headquarters are located in Stockholm, Sweden. In Sweden, Ericsson employs nearly 13,000 people from over 100 nationalities (2019). Globally, Ericsson has 54,000 patents, customers in 180 countries, 99,000 employees, and 227 billion SEK in net sales.

Hermes Schleifmittel

Hermes Schleifmittel  is one of the world's leading manufacturers of coated abrasives and has a key market position in precision bonded abrasives. Hermes, with its Headquarters in Hamburg, Germany maintains numerous production facilities and sales offices in all the main industrial and emerging nations of the world.

One of the previous year’s highlights was the presentation of the result from the Swedish-German testbed for smart production, where representatives from industry and research shared their experience from working within the testbed. Furthermore, PMH Application Lab arranged a digital webinar in gear technology, which was fully booked for the second year in a row.

The activities during 2020 would not have been possible without our team, which is constantly evolving and has been a cornerstone in the development of the last year. 2021 will be a very interesting year with several interesting possibilities to look forward to. At the beginning of the year, a new gear measurement machine will arrive, facilitating the possibility for several new projects. Additionally, several new projects have already been started and will bring even more research to the field.

Again, we would like to thank all our partners and our team. Together we push the research in powertrain manufacturing forward!
