What research have I done the last 5 years
Over the past five years I together with Hans Lind have had a continuing collaboration with SKL and published three reports of their real estate series. The reports focus on public properties.
Component depreciation
The report describes the difference between traditional depreciation principles and component depreciation. Further, it describes and analyzes the use of component depreciation in a few municipalities.
Internal rents
The report analyzes the areas that are critical for the objectives of the internal rent system to be achieved. Through interviews in five municipalities it examines how internal rents are used in practice and if they works as intended.
The free school choice from a real estate perspective
The report investigates how the free school choice has affected the the local governments real estate strategy, particularly during the last decade. It also analyses whether there is a need for further studies on these strategies and how sharp fluctuations in demand can be managed.
Ongoing research
I am currently writing a policy paper which deals with how the local governments can user real estate strategies to deal with sharp and unexpected changes in demand in public schools.
Future research
I hope to continue the current cooperation with SKL and their research series on public real estate.
