Todays lecture will present the railway system with Track (how it is constructed and the different parts), Vehicle (for railway operation and how they are constructed) and Traffic (how to construct a railway timetable and how to operate the train traffic).

 It will also describe capacity, train delays, signaling system (old and new), traction and how to build the railway and how to maintain it.

An exercise regarding railway operations.

In this lecture the methodology for stress analysis of flexible pavement is presented based on linear elasticity theory.

Stress/strain field parameters controlling pavement deterioration in the field are introduced and their dependency on critical structural design parameters is examined. Limitations of the linear elastic analysis of pavement structures are discussed
