The course deals with the interaction between theoretical knowledge and some of the aspects of practical knowledge that will meet the students in their employments in the future.  It prepares for the transmission from theoretical studies to an action-oriented working life, and gives an orientation in different dilemmas and possibilities inherent in different roles as a consultant.

It is often assumed that a single model of knowledge will cover the range of different fields of expertise. Working life practices highlight the deficiencies in this view. This course accordingly explores different approaches to knowledge, and especially the knowledge that is expressed in action in situations that are characterised by uncertainty and ambiguity.

The course mixes lectures and seminars. The lectures provide input from professional consultants and relevant case studies, as well as an introduction to the development of management consulting. The seminars use a structured form based upon written contributions that form reflections on the lectures and selected papers and books. They will thus also prepare for the thesis work to follow.
