The course is managed in the Canvas platform now.
The course focuses on kinetics, dynamics and stability of nuclear reactors. The reactor kinetics studies the way the total power of the reactor responds to changes in reactivity, assuming existence of no feedbacks. The reactor dynamics studies the way how various feedbacks, that are common in power reactors, affect the reactor response to changes in reactivity caused e.g. by changing the control rod position.
The purpose of the course is to describe and explain the transient and dynamic behavior of a nuclear power reactor. Basic types of transients that can occur in nuclear reactors will be described and analysed. In addition, it will be shown what specific features in the nuclear core design can improve the reactor stability.
