Accommodation
If you get housing through KTH, the Accommodation Office at KTH administers everything regarding your accommodation. More information is available here.
When you arrive to Stockholm you need to get the key to your accommodation (if you have accommodation via KTH). You obtain it at KTH Entré upon arrival.
Please also note that the application for accommodation is a binding contract. You have committed yourself to cancel the contract at least two full months before the rental period starts. Otherwise you have to pay the rent for up to two months.
There are several student housings in the larger Stockholm area. We can unfortunately not influence the decision about where you will be placed. KTH accommodation cannot guarantee that everyone will get a student room. You will only get one offer and you will not be able to request a change. Some students receive rooms in suburbs and/or in ordinary apartments in a suburb. This is because of the large number of incoming students and the difficult housing situation in Stockholm. The total travel-time to KTH from these suburbs can be up to an hour. Two students usually share these apartments.
Every rental period starts from the beginning of a month. If you receive a room in one of the student housings your room will be 12-18 m². You will normally have your own private bathroom and will share the kitchen with other students. All rooms are equipped with basic furnishing: A bed, a mattress, a desk and a chair. Sometimes the previous tenant has left additional pieces of furniture in the room. The kitchens in most areas, but not all, are well equipped with cooking utensils. You normally have to bring all the bed linen yourself, or buy it inexpensively, at for example IKEA.
Please note that the second-hand rental market in Stockholm is close to non-existent, so it is very difficult and expensive to find a room on your own.
