Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)

The research on electromagnetic compatibility explores the mechanism by which various sources produce electromagnetic disturbances, how disturbances couple to and affect other systems, and how the systems can be protected against electromagnetic interference, and thereby enhance its reliability. The research is multidisciplinary where electrical engineering, electromagnetics and physics of materials come together.

Tesla coil

Main focus of research work is to develop new knowledge and technologies for reliable operation of distributed networks such as railways, communication and transmission of electric power in the presence of electromagnetic disturbance from natural and man-made sources, including lightning, equipment generated interference, and intentionally created high power electromagnetic fields.

Courses on EMC at both undergraduate and graduate levels are offered. The group also offers help to industry on questions related to EMC.
