Identification and Prediction of Injuries with Long Term Consequences

The project aim is to enhance the understanding and evaluation of injuries leading to long term consequences (disabling injuries).

The purpose is to generate knowledge, develop tools and methods that will be used to develop of countermeasures for enhanced protection. Specifically, the project targets to achieve an understanding of head and upper extremity injuries leading to long term consequences. The project will also gain an insight into the ability of various head injury criteria to predict head injuries leading to long term consequences.

The results from the project will be knowledge about passenger vehicle crashes that generate injuries with long term consequences. Methods and tools for evaluation and prediction of head and upper extremity injuries will be developed. Countermeasures will be proposed. The results of the project will benefit both the vehicle and helmet industry.
