Research for climate action
KTH Climate Action Centre has three missions when it comes to research. The first is to conduct system-level research in the field of climate action. The second is to promote and communicate research conducted at all parts of KTH aiming for climate mitigation and adaptation. The third is to engage stakeholders in co-creation and deliberation of science based climate action research. All these parts are naturally integrated and connected.
At KTH, research for climate neutral and resilient societies is conducted in many different disciplines and areas. The focus ranges from technologies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, to societal changes for reduced climate impact, and how the society needs to be adapted to cope with the climate changes that are taking place.
The KTH Climate Action Centre focuses on a number of research and impact foci, encompassing themes such as:
System-level sustainable climate action
Multidisciplinary system-level research on sustainable climate action, looking at how to achieve climate action goals at the system level and in synergy with other sustainability goals.
System-level sustainable climate action
Climate mitigation
Climate mitigation in diverse sectors, looking at how to achieve net-zero emission societies through innovative technology and policy mixes, also including value chains.
Climate adaptation
Climate change adaptation in the society, looking at how to adapt to advancing climate change by increasing the resilience of the society and infrastructure.
Co-creation research
Citizens, private and societal engagement in climate action, looking at the role of business models, societal engagement and civil society in the climate transition.
