Does writing code and scripts play an important role in your research? Do you have the feeling that there is room for improvement in your programming practices? The CodeRefinery project is organizing an afternoon get-together for researchers in the Stockholm region where the focus will be on exchanging ideas and discussing common problems encountered when developing code for research - and how to go about solving them.

The meeting will take place on the 19th of May from 13:15-17:00, in the CSC library on the KTH Royal Institute of Technology campus (enter via the CSC service center ), and will start with a presentation by Mark Abraham, KTH researcher and development manager of GROMACS the world-leading software package for molecular dynamics simulations. Mark will present some of the software development tools and workflows used by the GROMACS team. While the agenda for the rest of the afternoon is intended to be fluid and determined by the interests of the attendants, the core topics of the CodeRefinery project may serve as inspiration. These include:

  • Tools for code development,

  • Collaborative distributed version control,

  • Automated testing of code,

  • Managing code complexity, and

  • Code documentation.

We invite researchers (from any academic discipline) who are interested in scientific software development to join us for this interactive event to learn, exchange ideas and share tips and tricks with other researchers. Members of the CodeRefinery project, as well as application experts from the PDC Center for High Performance computing, will also attend the get-together. If you have a topic that you would like to discuss, feel free to bring any of your own presentation material to the meeting or email us prior to the event so that we can prepare material. To help us get an idea of the number of attendants and which topics would be the most useful, we kindly request you to fill in a short registration form at coderefinery.org/workshops/2017-05-19-stockholm/

Light refreshments will be served during the meeting.
