System, Policies and Energy Studies

Energy systems should be developed with regard to the environment, capital, and raw materials.

Vision

Energy systems should be developed with regard to the environment, capital, and raw materials. In order to avoid sub-optimisation of the energy system(s), the allocation of the different resources to different end-use must be considered in a broad perspective. The research should be directed towards the gathering and the development of new knowledge for the realisation of sustainable energy systems characterised by a low impact on energy and other resources.

Challenges

Research is to a great extent either conducted from the production perspective or from the different end-user perspectives. It is a great challenge to treat these aspects simultaneously not only from a technical point of view, but also by treating energy systems as a socio-technical system.

Research groups

These are the research groups in KTH's school organisation performing research related to system, policies and energy studies.
