KTH Battery 3PC - a circular battery production initiative

Large-scale, sustainable and high quality battery production is one of the most complex challenges to power a sustainable future. That is why, KTH’s Battery 3PC initiative brings together leading expertise to improve the way batteries are produced, paving the way for a circular and efficient energy transition. The acronym 3PC stands for process, production, product and circularity.

Scaling up battery production to meet global energy demands is one of the most pressing challenges for a sustainable future. The 3PC initiative focuses on tackling the complexities of producing high-quality batteries at a very large scale while integrating circularity and efficiency into every step.

By uniting KTH’s expertise in process design, production, product quality and circularity, we aim to solve key production hurdles, such as optimising process and production parameters and minimising waste as well as energy footprint. These efforts address critical industry needs and aim to secure a high-quality manufacturing system where defects are detected early.

Thanks to KTH’s research breadth and partnerships with industry leaders, we want the initiative to be a frontrunner in developing scalable, sustainable solutions within the field. The initiative is dedicated to enabling Europe’s battery production ecosystem to thrive while contributing to education and innovation in the field.
