Communication in STEM

Research in communication in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) examines the communication skills needed by architects, engineers, and scientists to meet the challenges of their studies and work.

The research field

The research group Communication in STEM investigates the communicative skills that STEM students and employees need in their studies and work. The group is inspired in its research by subjects and areas such as rhetoric, professional language and terminology, technical communication, and intercultural communication.

Much of the work is practice-oriented and focuses on effective ways to teach and learn language and communicative skills specific to STEM.

Based on KTH's language policy, we aim to promote linguistic diversity within academia and in the workplace. To achieve this, we work in multiple languages besides English and support their use in STEM-related academic and professional contexts.
