Housing for relocating academic staff
As part of the relocation services, KTH Housing offers accommodation, depending on availability, for international academic staff, including doctoral students, coming from abroad to KTH.
Our service
KTH Housing administrate a limited number of accommodations that we offer to international academic staff relocating to Stockholm. Allocation is dependent on availability, which sometimes mean that not all applicants can receive an offer. Housing is allocated according to what we have available when you register, when you arrive, and what your family situation is.
Our housing
KTH Housing has accommodations located in Stockholm, most of them on KTH Campus. These are furnished apartments in various sizes and in some cases shared apartments and corridor rooms. They can be leased for a maximum of one year, i.e. for the first year you are in Sweden. Not all offers are for a full year. The duration of a contract is dependent on availability. Pets and smoking are not allowed in any of our housing.

How to apply for housing with KTH Housing
-
Fill out the Registration form for KTH Relocation.
-
If you are eligible for KTH Housing and we have availability, you receive a reply to your form from housingoffice@kth.se with a link to the housing application in Mobility Online. Please note that filling out the Registration form and making the housing application in Mobility Online are two separate steps. You need to have completed both in order to be taken into account for a possible housing offer.
-
The housing application in Mobility Online consists of several steps including choosing accommodation preferences and confirming them. If we are able to offer you accommodation, you will receive an offer by email about 2 months prior to your requested start date. You need to accept or decline the possible offer in Mobility Online. If you reject the offer due to not receiving your residence permit yet, you are welcome to contact us again when your documents are in order. After accepting the offer, you pay the first rent before the due date set and sign and upload your housing contract when asked to do so.
Finding housing on your own
If you are not eligible for accommodation through KTH Housing, prefer to find housing on your own or have not received an offer from KTH Housing due to limited availability, you can look for external alternatives. Below are some housing queues you can join. There are also several co-living opportunities in Stockholm, just a short google search away.
- Wennergren Center (WGC) (for postdocs and researchers who have a PhD from outside of Sweden)
- Stockholm Bostadsförmedligen general housing queue, and also a queue for students (PhDs and anyone)
- SSSB Stockholm's student housing queue (PhDs)
