KTH Professor Zahra Kalantari speaks about her work in understanding and modelling complex water systems to strengthen societal preparedness for climate change. Her research contributes to securing access to water, reducing the risks of floods and drought, and developing strategies for climate adaptation and resilience. Through advanced modelling, artificial intelligence, and collaboration between research, authorities, and society, solutions are being developed for sustainable water management in a changing climate.

Zahra Kalantari  is a Professor of Environmental Geoscience and the Director of WaterCentre@KTH , an interdisciplinary platform that gathers researchers, industry, policymakers, and communities to address water-related challenges in the era of climate change. Her research covers regional and global hydrology, risk assessment of water-related disasters, and the development of methods that combine data analysis, AI, and participatory modelling for better decision-making in sustainable water management. Through her leadership, she drives efforts to increase societal resilience and contribute to climate adaptation and a more sustainable future.
