Originally from Italy, Laura completed her Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering at the Politecnico di Torino. She then moved to Sweden to study for a MSc in Aerospace Engineering at KTH. She is part of the KTH outdoor club to fulfil her passion for nature in good company. She also enjoys reading, attending art exhibitions and playing sports.

Why did you choose this master's programme at KTH?

My decision to pursue a master's programme at KTH was significantly influenced by its strong international recognition, both for the rigorous academic education it provides and for its vibrant student life. As I aimed to continue my higher studies in aerospace engineering at a distinguished foreign university, it was fundamental that I found an institution that offered both a valuable educational experience and flexibility in course selection. Of the various options I considered, KTH stood out, offering a well-rounded and adaptable learning environment that aligned perfectly with my academic and personal aspirations.

What are some of your favorite courses so far?

So far, my favourite course has been Applied Computational Fluid Dynamics. It was a truly engaging experience, the main goal of which was the group project, which involved collaborative problem-solving. The course emphasised application: we actively used computational tools to analyse and understand fluid flow. This practical approach to problem solving helped me to understand the concepts and was incredibly rewarding. I really enjoyed the challenge and the practical skills I gained.

How do studies at KTH differ from your previous studies?

One of the most notable differences is the increased emphasis on practical application. While my previous studies were more theoretical, here at KTH there is a strong focus on hands-on learning. The curriculum also offers considerably more flexibility in course selection, enabling me to customize my studies according to my specific interests within aerospace engineering. Additionally, KTH places greater importance on developing soft skills. Beyond technical knowledge, there are explicit opportunities to hone skills such as conducting research, writing papers, and understanding teamwork dynamics, all of which are proving invaluable for my professional growth.
