Research

Previous research shows that the ability to reflect in action, as well as methods for fostering collective reflection, are crucial for strengthening practical judgment and for addressing obstacles that arise in sustainability transition work.
Through its transdisciplinary, challenge-driven, and practice-oriented approach, TRANSPLACE aims to educate researchers who can take on the role of critical change agents and help transform the interface between urban development and transport planning into a lever for a broader societal sustainability transition.
In addition to nine doctoral research projects, TRANSPLACE encompasses a range of activities for partner organizations designed to enhance their reflective capacity and thereby strengthen their transformative potential. An “Acceleration Council” linked to the school contributes to advancing the transformation by building bridges between research, public authorities, and the substantial expertise and engagement found within activist organizations in the transition movement.
