Research area description
Our research explores how industrial sectors, such as transportation, energy, water or food, change over time and towards sustainability. Particular attention is paid to innovation, for instance how innovation drives industrial change and how innovations are diffused in society and industry.
We examine underlying processes behind innovation and industrial change, especially in relation to historical trajectories, institutions, business models, geography, technological experimentation, societal trends, norms and political developments.
The overarching aim is to understand how and under which conditions industrial change happen. To do so, we employ in-depth case studies; and contribute to theory building at the intersection of organisations and industrial sectors.
